Apple's latest operating system, Mac OS 10.11 'El Capitan' is now available. With any new operating system, if you rely on your computer for work, it's always best to wait to ensure that it will work for everything you need. When you're ready to install El Capitan, Apple makes it simple -- just go to the App Store on your Mac, click on OS X El Capitan, and then click 'Download.' 3. Find the 'OS X El Capitan' file in your Applications folder. This is the actual update, which is 6.08 GB.

4. Move this file to a thumb drive or external hard drive, and then copy it over to each Mac you'd like to update to El Capitan.
